Message from Mr. Vivek Oberoi to all our DTOs
Boosting TB Notification for DTOs
PROBLEMS:
Covid has had a devastating impact on the TB Free efforts of the Government of India (GoI). Most significantly, TB notifications have been reduced by 30%-50% in the initial stage of the pandemic and failed to reach the 2.4 million annual TB notification target for 2021. There is an urgent need to boost TB Notification, especially post-Covid.
BOOSTING TB NOTIFICATION GOALS:
DTOs in the nation will initiate a TB Notification Campaign using the PDSA quality improvement process guided by CETI (Collaboration to Eliminate TB among Indians) and Emory University.
- Increase notification for TB by 10% over the course of a year by implementing the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) -Quality Improvement Initiative (QII)
- Engage over 500 DTOs covering all the districts in a virtual 8 week session for 1.5 hours each week.
- Provide certificate of completion from Emory University, Central TB Division, WHO, IIPH and CETI to successful DTOs.
PROCESS:
Engage Central TB Division and WHO consultants as key partners along with CETI, Emory Faculty, IIPH (Indian Institute of Public Health) staff and others..
- Directed by CTD, over 500 DTOs will join in the QI project to conduct a PDSA cycle to increase notification.
- An e-PDSA tool developed by CETI will be shared with all DTOs.
- CETI will use the QIC (Quality Improvement Counsellors) who will work step-by-step with DTOs to be successful with their PDSAs.
- QIC interns will be recruited from IIPH-Gandhinagar and other institutions to work virtually with DTOs.
- DTOs will attend Webinar sessions on Friday afternoon from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Respective WHO consultants will assist DTO teams.
- DTOs along with QIC and CETI Faculty will develop a PDSA cycle with an aim statement, process measures, outcome measures, interventions, root cause analysis and run chart of the PDSA on increasing notification.
