CAP-TB PROJECT

Comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate TB

OBJECTIVES

To create a local model of TB Free District, TB Free Village, and TB Free Gram Panchayat, which then can be scaled up.

ABOUT CAP-TB PROJECT

Comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate TB (CAP-TB Project)

With an objective to make the Indian district Free of tuberculosis, as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, CETI has developed a Project that works on a comprehensive approach toward the elimination of Tuberculosis. The approach is designed towards breaking down administrative, technical, political, and social barriers. The project also aims to address the gaps in the Quality of care, process, and outcomes.

The project has two components :

  1. Health Structure Strengthening
  2. Health Process Structuring

The project has currently in pilot state in districts of Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.

CAP-TB PROJECT GOALS

  • To strengthen the Health Structure and Health Process using the Comprehensive Approach using PDSA
  • To enable the DTO and team to garner support from the Health Structures and the Community

THE PROBLEM

Only a few districts in India have progressed to a TB Free status. While most districts and villages have the resources to achieve this goal, many require a structured comprehensive process. With Health System Strengthening such as implementation of TB Forums and Health Process Strengthening such as conducting an extensive number of PDSA cycles, the broader goal of TB elimination can be achieved.

In addition, maximum administrative, political and social support from institutions, and the community needs to be leveraged towards the TB Free district goal.

THE PROCESS

  • The CETI Project team will assist the DTOs in identifying the gaps, and planning the implementation of the possible solutions using the PDSA approach
  • Engage private donors and institutions and Central TB Division (CTD) as key partners

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Reduction in TB incidence over time
  • Improvement of quality measures such as TB notification, presumptive sputum examination, DBT, and Ni-kshay Mitra update.
  • Expansion of the scope of the TB Forum.
  • Engagement of the community and administration towards TB Free Districts and Ni-kshay Mitra initiative
