Each One Aware Five! Yes, We Can End TB!

The IEC Activity done at Govt. PU College, T Narasipura, Mysuru, and JSS Nursing College, Kollegal, Chamarajanagar was undertaken as part of the ongoing Comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate Tuberculosis (CAP-TB) Project in Mysuru & Chamarajanagar districts in Karnataka in association with the Ashraya Hastha Trust supported by Central TB Division, World Health Organisation, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and Emory Global Health Institute (EGHI, USA).

The TB elimination program in India encompasses a multi-faceted approach that spans prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Extensive efforts have been made to enhance public awareness about TB, improve healthcare infrastructure, and strengthen diagnostic capabilities.

Despite significant progress, challenges persist in eliminating TB in India. Socioeconomic disparities, stigma, and the emergence of drug-resistant strains necessitate ongoing efforts.

It is important to make the youth aware that TB is curable.

Students at Govt. PU College, T Narasipura, Mysuru, and were addressed about the disease and facilities available for treatment at the government set-up and how they can reach out for guidance and support from the DTO and NTEP staff. Students were also encouraged to become volunteers and spread awareness with the motto“ Each One Aware Five” and “Yes, We Can End TB”.

Students of nursing JSS Nursing College, Kollegal, Chamarajanagar were engaged in the TB awareness session. As future healthcare professionals, their contribution in TB elimination is important. The students were made to understand the challenges for TB elimination in the community and the support they can provide as healthcare workers with the motto “Each One Aware Five” and “Yes, we can end TB”.

The IEC activities were organized with the guidance of Dr. Shiraz Ahmad, DTO Mysuru, and Dr. Ravikumar MS, under the overall guidance of Dr. Anil S., STO Karnataka, conducted by CETI project team in active association with the NTEP Team of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar, Karnataka.
