Ashraya Hastha Trust-CETI CAP-TB Project- Districts Mysuru & Chamarajanagar in Karnataka

Dr. Manoj Jain and Commodore Raman Arora from Collaboration to Eliminate Tuberculosis among Indians (CETI) and Mr. Vishwanath Reddy from Ashraya Hastha Trust as a part of the Comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate Tuberculosis (CAP-TB) project met with the District Collector, District Tuberculosis Officer, District Health Officer and Chief Executive Officer of  Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts in Karnataka.

The CETI team briefed the district administration team about their unique PLAN-DO-STUDY-ACT (PDSA) technique of Quality Improvement which when utilized by the administration and staff of the National Tuberculosis  Elimination Programme (NTEP) becomes a CAP TB Project (Comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate Tuberculosis).

The district administration found a lot of significance in this novel approach of the CAP-TB project during the discussions and concluded that Health System Strengthening and Health Process Strengthening are the two major areas that are much required for the larger objective of TB-free districts.

The district administration assured full support to the CETI team. It was decided to start working on the scope, frequency, and format of the Tuberculosis forum as the first step.

The district administration was also apprised of the huge support expected from the private practitioners and pharmacies and all stakeholders towards making Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts Tuberculosis free.

The CAP-TB project is progressing under the guidance of the Central TB Division, Government of India. In the past, the work of the CETI has been acknowledged by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), Emory Global Health Institute (EGHI, USA), Indian Institute of Public Health-Gandhinagar (IIPH-G), and World Health Organization (WHO).

CETI (Collaboration to Eliminate Tuberculosis Among Indians) is based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh works as a catalyst and resource by empowering and aligning multiple agencies to reduce the burden of TB in India. In particular, CETI focuses on creating best practice models and then scaling them up. CETI leverages and aligns the government infrastructure, private doctors, and NGOs to their maximum potential for TB Elimination.

Ashraya Hastha Trust is actively supporting CETI in strengthening the health system and health processes in the districts Mysuru and Chamarajanagar in Karnataka in creating best practice models for TB-free districts.
