CAP-TB | Virtual Seminar conducted to Sensitize Private Practitioners and Pharmacists to showcase NTEP guidelines on Tuberculosis (TB) Notification | Mysuru & Chamarajanagar | 17th February 2023 #TBfreeIndia

The project team of Collaboration to Eliminate Tuberculosis among Indians (CETI) and Ashraya Hastha Trust in association with the DTO and NTEP Team of Chamarajanagar and Mysuru districts conducted a seminar to address the private practitioners and pharmacists of the two districts on the NTEP guidelines and Tuberculosis case notification. The contribution of the private practitioners and pharmacists is of great importance in making the districts TB free.

The virtual seminar was conducted on 16th February 2023 for Dist. Chamarajanagar and for Dist. Mysuru on 17th February 2023. The seminar was addressed by the dignitaries viz. Dr. Anil S, State TB Officer, Karnataka,, Dr. Rajendra K.V, Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate of Mysuru and Mr. Ramesh DS, Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate of Chamarajanagar, Ms. Poovitha, CEO- Zilla Panchayat, Chamarajanagar, WHO Consultant Dr. Shazia Anjum, District Health Officers Dr. Prasad KH & Dr. Vishweshwaraiah K, IMA Presidents Dr. M Basavarajendra and Dr. Y M Shivakumar, Assistant Drugs Controllers, Ms. B V Ashalatha and Dr. S. Nagaraja, CETI Co-founders Dr. Manoj Jain and Dr. Salil Bhargava, CETI Project Director Cmde Raman Arora (Ex. Navy) and CETI Assistant Consultants Ms. Sadaf Ahmad, Ms. Devleena Chatterjee, Dr. Ankita Mokashi. Several private practitioners and pharmacists participated in the seminar. Mr. Vikram Patel and Mr. Vishwanath Reddy from Ashraya Hastha Trust were also present at the virtual seminar.

The virtual seminar was the first step to bringing the stakeholders and administrative support together on one platform for the larger objective of TB-free districts. All the dignitaries shared their vision and the support that they could provide. The insightful talk amongst the panel members viz. The DTOs, IMA Presidents, ADCs, and CETI CAP-TB Project Team highlighted the guidelines of the Gazette and the National TB Elimination Program, Notifying cases using the Nikshay App and the benefits provided to the TB patient, Nikshay Mitra Community Support Initiative and the support that District NTEP team can provide the private practitioners and pharmacists to streamline the process of TB case notification.

The CAP-TB project is progressing under the guidance of the Central TB Division, Government of India. In the past, the work of the CETI has been acknowledged by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), Emory Global Health Institute (EGHI, USA), Indian Institute of Public Health-Gandhinagar (IIPH-G), and World Health Organization (WHO).

The comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate Tuberculosis (CAP-TB) project is operated by CETI in supported by Ashraya Hastha Trust in strengthening the health system and health processes in the districts Mysuru and Chamarajanagar in Karnataka in creating best practice models for TB-free districts.

CETI (Collaboration to Eliminate Tuberculosis Among Indians) is based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh works as a catalyst and resource by empowering and aligning multiple agencies to reduce the burden of TB in India. In particular, CETI focuses on creating best practice models and then scaling them up. CETI leverages and aligns the government infrastructure, private doctors, and NGOs to their maximum potential for TB Elimination.

Ashraya Hastha Trust is a charitable foundation that advances ideas and supports organizations to promote a better, more equal world.
