Information, Education, and Communication (IEC)- Creating Awareness on TB Elimination Program

IEC activities conducted within the workplace context can effectively raise awareness about TB, its transmission, symptoms, and treatment options. By targeting the working population, IEC initiatives can have a direct impact on reducing TB incidence and ensuring a healthier workforce.

The in-person IEC activity done for ESI Hospital and Railway Hospital Staff, in Mysuru, and Sensitization of the Health Workers of Christian Council for Rural Development and Research (CCOORR), Chamarajanagar was undertaken as part of the ongoing Comprehensive Approach using PDSA to Eliminate Tuberculosis (CAP-TB) Project in Mysuru & Chamarajanagar districts in Karnataka in association with the Ashraya Hastha Trust supported by Central TB Division, World Health Organisation, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and Emory Global Health Institute (EGHI, USA).

On 23rd June 2023, Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, DTO Mysuru, Dr. Salil Bhargava, Co-Founder CETI, Dr. Shazia Anjum, WHO Consultant, Dr. PA Mahesh from JSS Medical College, Mysuru conducted the session for Railway hospital staff.

Dr. Shiraz and Dr. Bhargava also conducted the session for ESI Hospital Staff.

On 30th June 2023, STS Mr. Naveen and STS Mr. Putturaju from Chamarajanagar NTEP team with the support of DTO Dr. Ravikumar MS and CETI Project team conducted a virtual session for Mr. Manjappa and his team at CCOORR on TB elimination program and importance of such collaborations.

Dr. Shashank and Dr. Damyanthi from Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences also joined the session and consented to extend support for TB free Chamarajanagar initiative.

The IEC activities were organised with the guidance of Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, DTO Mysuru, and Dr. Ravikumar MS, DTO Chamarajanagar, under the overall guidance of Dr. Anil S., STO Karnataka, conducted by CETI project team in active association with NTEP Team of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar, Karnataka.
